Book The Last Story of Mina Lee: the Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick Review :

While the premise if the book was good...communication issues and the conflict between the Korean raised mother and the American born daughter there is a huge issue that prevents believability in the tale. The concept that the now adult daughter born in America and raised by her Korean only speaking mother in a household of 3 adult women all speaking only Korean would grow up with only very rudimentary Korean language skills is virtually impossible. The daughter, surrounded by only Korean speakers until she attended school, not being fluent in Korean? Seriously? This huge issue casts doubt on the authenticity of the entire experience the author was trying to convey.
The story of Margot and her mother Mina whom Margot discovers dead in her apartment. While investigating her mother's death, Mina realizes just how little she knew of her mother's life. The story is told by Margot in the present and by Minain the past beginning with her arrival in Los Angeles from Korea. The story will suck you in. I read it in one sitting.
